Lack of power on hard acceleration

Engine system failure comes on when I accelerate hard (to overtake etc). seems to just not be able to breath properly. Warning goes out after say 30secs and engine runs perfectly smoothly all day until I press on next time ! 2008 Range Rover 3.6 TDi. Any clues before I get slaughtered in Italian main Land Rover agent.....! thanks
