The toon!
Lack of power started a while back at 60 -70 then disappeared.lately it's come back and now the last 2 days eml is on then off etc but now it does it at low speeds.ive searched othe threads which are similar but I don't have the cash to keep chucking at it to narrow it down and I also only get one day a week to get under the bonnet(weather permitting)and use car daily for work.ive had it on 3 diagnostics 2 found no faults and 1 found boost fault.advised to change hoses and then unplugg maf,didn't work,I've changed crankcase,little turbo filter,blanked egr.checked hoses today and quite bit oil in one next to egr?the time fault was picked up it drove sweet(knew it would Sod's law)but was on red so fuel pump and filter was ruled out.just been back garage who said unless eml is on when its plugged in its no good.if anyone can hit nail on head with these symptoms would be spot on.td4 05.cheers lads

Normally with eml and lack of power usual suspect is often fuel pump and or filter in front of rear drivers side wheel arch.
What's the mileage and when was the filter last changed?

What's the mileage and when was the filter last changed?not sure mate,I've had it just over a year now,it's on 107k.that's what it feels like,like its a blockage then it returns but last 2 days its canny bad.just when I went for a run with it on diagnostics the lad did say that it could be that but it drove spot on on the red so ruled it out?cheers I think I might attempt this next weekend and if not stick it in and start here as that's what it feels like

I had the same problem sometimes no acceleration around 50 or would not rev above 2k. I checked the engine with the hawkeye Diagnostic tool and all I had was low fuel pressure with no fault indications on the dash.
I changed the fuel pump and the filter about 10 days ago and have not had the problem since.
Hope this helps

I know I can get a bit repetitive with my answers but with any problems to do with intermittent lack of power I would change the pressure sensor loom as a first cheap attempt at a cure. Less than a hour to fit and can solve a host of problems for £30.

Just an update,changed the pump and filter but still not solved,back on machine and only fault was maf but that from when it was unplugged so now cleared.it now drives no problem round the doors with no eml on anymore it's pulling no bother up steep banks even getting up to 60-70 before I run out of road but back on the dual carrage way where it's a gradual incline where I can go flat out the fault comes back but still no eml just snails pace until I can exit.im going to now clean the map when I get the chance,and check the loom but this looks complicated to replace so hope it's not this but apparently this shows up on diagnostics so I don't think it's this,the demister/heater dial has now jammed but don't think this could have owt to do with this?im sure ive read on here there's a sensor on the accelerator it's self could this be it as it seems like when it's floored it's starved of fuel.

I've read that thread mjrimmer which is pretty similar and also another member recently fixed his problem with the same part,zoolander I'm going to check the wires Tomorrow but not good with cables tbh,was there any specific sign that pinpointed it on yours and would I just contact the dealer and ask for wiring loom or is there a part no?cheers

but not good with cables

disconnect the plug from the fuel-rail sensor ..
check the connecting pins for signs of corrosion ..
clean them up if needed ..
( good chance there will be corrosion on that particular plug/socket )

im sure ive read on here there's a sensor on the accelerator it's self could this be it as it seems like when it's floored it's starved of fuel.

there are 2 potentiometers on the go-pedal .. ( variable resistors ) ..
the ecu compares the voltage reading from both to double check ..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
( given the lp.pump and fuel filter are ok )
something else to check if the motor aint getting the fuel supply when you accelerate ..
is the 'pressure-regulator' on the high-pressure pump
that's on page 63 of the above .pdf link ..
more about it here:
http://tuning-diesels.com/75Zt/R75faults.htm
although it's considered to be a rare fault
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

may as well check the plug / socket connectors on the map sensor ..
( turbo boost pressure sensor )
be on same side of engine as the fuel-rail sensor

The part number is YMQ503320. With mine I went all thru the spraying with contact cleaner to clean the plug but it was basically knackered.

For info my car is the 2005 TD4 and it had done about 80k at the time. It is a very common problem of corrosion on the plug on the fuel rail hp sensor.

Shame you live other end of the country or I'd offer to do the job for you.

If you do need to change the small piece of loom (YMQ503320) it isn't difficult. If you have any problems please feel free to ask.

Just an update its been a week now since I changed the turbo boost solenoid and so far so good,so thanks all for the advice/suggestions,appreciated:)
