I have a 2004 4.4 V8 Autobiograpy which has been running fine since the last major incident for nearly 5 months now( miricale). It has now developed a harsh vibration under medium to hard acceleration which seems to come through the whole car. Under light throttle everything is fine and when cruising at motorway speeds. Also when climbing any steep road at a slow speed the vibratoin also starts. Any ideas anyone. i have been using the car on a rough haul road into a open cast mine which is around 2 miles long every morning and evening for the last two weeks due to work which at times has been very muddy thanks to our great summer weather. Thanks for any help in advance. Mark

Thanks for that alan i actually finished work up there yesterday and spent 3 hours jet washing the car including removing the wheels so that doesnt seem to be the cause. The vibration seems to be coming from the engiine bay. I suspect it may be the dreaded gearbox failure starting to occur, although it changes gear very smoothly with no banging and it also reverses up hill fine which i am told is a good way to check if the trany is on its way out.

have you had the front propshaft recall work done to convert the ridged prop to a flexi joint where it joins the front diff ? if not the splines will wear out and the prop joint will become lose then fail !! vibration may be a sure sign its going to fail.
if you are not sure its been done contact your local dealer with your vin number and they will tell you or have a look yourself:)

Wow. just called local stealer and the recal for the front prop has not been carried out. They booked the car in straight away with no questions to carry out the modification free of charge. My faith in Land Rover has returned( for now).

Got the car up on a ramp and there was mud around the front of the prop, after another good jet wash underneath the vibration has now gone. So if you dont want your Range Rover to vibrate dont go offroad with it:confused:
