Cheers guys

Spoke to my local LR dealer and the filter is £105+vat, and gasket is £25+vat!!
Seen filter on britishparts for £60ish, and on ebay looks like same part from a seller, any preference?

Also when asking how much oil, they LR guy said either 9.5litres without changing oil in torque convertor, or 11litres if changing that too, is it worth doing? Or does the 'dual flush' method Aaron mentions clean the torque convertor out too?

also, will I get enough room under it on 'off road' setting, or do I need ramps?

You cannot drain the torque convertor unless you remove the gearbox from the car:rolleyes: LR guy is a pratt:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: I don't think you can drain it in situe even with a vacuum drain.

Cheers Data, wasnt too sure where torque convertor was/how it was linked to gearbox, I asked LR guy what oil spec was (hoping he'd say Texamatic 7045e or equilivant) and his reply was "its special LR stuff, bright pink"

No sh!t sherlock :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

If I'm doing the dual flush method lots talk about, do i change the filter and gasket on the first drain/change, or the 2nd time I strip it down? If its the 2nd time (after driving a couple of hundred miles after first oil change), for the first change can I just use the drain plug, or does it need sump off first time?

looks like you got every thing, dont sell the rest of your oil though. after a change run it for a few weeks then do it again as you only ever get about half the total amout of oil out, probably take a few changes before you mange to get it all nice and fresh. after three flushes i change mine once a year now, so far no gearbox problems, im finding some wood to touch after saying that.:D
is this gearbox the same as in the x5 bmw ?

Cheers guys

that seems expensive my local land rover dealer quoted , filter £24 , o ring 50p , gasket £11 which i bought at this price ,they wanted £23 p litre for the oil which i did not buy , if you are going to change and flush at this price there would be little change from £500, also the bits were not any cheaper from bmw
so i bought the bits from land rover, but the oil 20 litres texamatic 7045e
came from my local truck and trailer parts stockist which was [ watts truck centre ] in gloster £52 + vat for 20 litres was an enormous saving

Right everyone, an update (unfortunately) :frusty:

She decided to die on me last weekend, completely... I was gutted. New recon box supplied and fitted, 2 years/24k mile part and labour warranty for £1980 inc VAT, which i didnt think was toooooooooooo bad...

The warranty is on the condition if my cooling system/radiator hasnt been changed in last 5 years, it needs doing or it invalidates the gearbox warranty, does this sound right? And how hard a job is it to change cooling system, and whats involved?
