Good evening all, just some quick advice required. I had the rear pads and sensors changed a few weeks ago. Since they were done the landy hasn't been used. Took her out today and I'm getting an awful metal rattling noise from the rear passenger side hub. This noise appears over bumps and on smooth surface. The only way I can explain the noise is it sounds like a load of loose nuts and bolts on the inside of the wheel rim. As an emergency today I run her into a local tyre exhaust place (Not Kwik Fit) and they seem to think the pad retaining clips seem to be the offending noise. They asked if they were replaced when the pads were changed, I told them they wasn't.. I've since had a look on euro car parts and they seem to recommend new pad clips @£7.98. Is this an error on my behalf, the noise is horrible..

Hi Keith,
The noise seems to still be there even when I apply the brakes lightly? hand brake is working fine. Noise sounds horrible.
birchy 71 I have checked the back plate cover, it seems secure, this has all started since pads were changed. I have checked pad clips with wheel in situ & all seems secure????????????????

Update guys, it's the bloody disc backplate on the rear nearside making the noise. Is this common, is there some sort of securing bolts on these that have come loose or has something been disturbed when my friend changed the rear pads?

If it's the same as the fronts then you need penny washers or repair washers hat have a small hole and large diameter to cover the rust hole and is very common. You can buy them in B&Q among other places
The ones I have on the front of mine are nearly as big as the back plate themselves !

Thanks chicken, bloody noise sounds awful, the whole plate is vibrating and shaking when on bumpy surfaces. Can this be secured with the caliper in place or shall I remove?

Problem sorted, a small bolt had come out of the hub, looks like something to do with hand brake? Trapped behind back plate and disc. What a bloody racket for such a small bolt. Thanks everyone for all your help. All positive good advice as usual.
