Hi there. I have 2009 Range Rover 3.6 V8 Vogue. I seem to have a series of problems with the whilst the radio on an error temperature and shutting down comes on. Would anyone know how to cure this problem please.

1st Post since joining 4 years ago? Wow!
  1. Get it on proper diagnostics., tell us all what the codes are.
  2. Check your battery is good, I mean REALLY good. When was it last changed?

Nah, he's just got one of the reliable L322's :D

I had the overheat problem once when the CD player decided to start working, never happened again since the CD player stopped working 2 minutes later.
Very cynical! ;)
I confess to keeping CDs and DVDs loaded at all times just in case we get stranded, although, it did occur to me that given that situation neither would be any use as they'd kill the battery in minutes.
Tricky.

Had similar issue when I was stuck in a traffic jam on the motorway last year for about 3 hours, luckily the weather was nice so I could get out and clean the windows and tidy all the crap up rather than risk a flat battery listening to the radio.

Always carry cleaning gear after watching a cabbie giving his black cab a valet on a gridlocked M25 some years ago. Dare say the opportunity arises often on the M25..,,o_O Fortunately, not an issue for me.

When I was stuck there was a woman walking her dog (not on a lead) and people playing football on the opposite carriagway.

Nope. I'm the cynical one. My thought is, for the last four years, he's taken all the help he needed, from existing posts, , but now has one he can't find. Shows the site works :)

Ok guys. Instead of narky answers I challenge any of you so called experts to answer the question I have posted. Then by giving a correct and accurate answer you can then say how fantastic the site is and pat yourselves on a good job done. And yes its true I havent been on here for four years because of the very same type on nontulant replies. So please could some answer the question.? Thank you.

You have pretty much had the answer given already.

  1. Get it on proper diagnostics., tell us all what the codes are.
  2. Check your battery is good, I mean REALLY good. When was it last changed?

How old is the battery and is it 110%.

Ours would shut down with just the radio on very quickly when the battery was on its way out and spurious alarms for no reasons is another symptom of bad/failing battery.

Ahh at last someone sensible. Ok battery running full capacity. I replaced the battery about this time last year. My first initial thoughts condensation getting into the side panel. Affecting Dvd Bluetooth units ect. And as for diagnostics I dont wish to exhaust all possibilities before shelling out £10. So thats the reason I have come on here.

You don't actually say how long it will run before shutting down, and TBH I have not done it since new battery either.
But as you can see most owners understand the battery wont last long before shutting down. Is the error actually associated to the radio? and you have the big screen? they do get quiet hot. Try turning screen off with radio on and see what happens

Did you fit a bigger size battery or just replace like for like?
If you plan on keeping the car, obviously as you've had 4 years already I guess then investing in your own diagnostics is always a good thing to do anyway.

See post 2 & 4 above. Any error codes? were you playing CD's?

My radio overheats how can I fix it is a bit vague, fault finding is a 2 way street. If you just want an answer then replace the whole system.
If you want help then talk nicely and stop challenging people to fix your problem. And have a bit of banter on the way.
Most people on here are enthusiastic owners that have had issues and fixed them and posted the solution and not experts (me included). That said there are some on here that have exceptional knowledge and us lesser mortals consider to be experts.

(to be continued as I am working from home and don't have time to write an essay on manners)

So it took 15 posts before you went back to post 2 to figure out it was a sensible question. I also pointed out I had the issue when playing CD's, is that not sensible?
