L322 Power being cut randomly

Morning All,

I am looking for some advice.
Randomly our L322 (2005 3.0 Diesel) restricts the power down to around 20mph, generally turning it on and off fix's it.
It went in for a gearbox oil service a few months ago, and there wasn't any obvious faults on the diagnostics, today it happened 6 times whilst driving 15 mins, the car just starts shutting itself down and the throttle doesn't seem to make any difference to the revs, nothing comes on the dash or warning noises etc.

May not have been anything showing when the service was done but it doesn't mean that this latest issue hasn't stored a code so I'd suggest getting a diagnostic & see if anything comes up.

I have a complete print out of all the fault codes present at the time and previously stored.
Non of which point to a sensible fault.

L322 and sensible fault rarely go together. You need diagnostics for now. Just for laughs you could compare it to the previous list. That is, in the event, that you and they are using the same diagnostic system.

What are the faults listed?

There maybe a clue in them as to what’s happening with your car

Fuel pump/s over heating and seizing up temporarily?
You could do with have a look at any live data with a diagnostic reader really. Take a ride with the diag and do a recording while driving. You can then look at the playback if the problem shows its face...it may take a few runs to collect the info needed to bust it wide open!
Focus on fuel rail pressure.
Engine coolant temperature.
Fuel temperature.
Even throttle position in case it drops out in a worn spot on the potentiometer....

Also, I have seen a lot about EGR issues or split inter cooler hoses, could these be a possibility?

Depends. A simple ODB reader can probably read your engine codes but not much else. After that you can see if Storey Wilson covers your car with his AllComms software or is it 4can for yours? Cannot remember. After that it gets expensive.

As far as I'm aware, a simple OBD reader will not read fault on the diesel.
