Can anyone help? I have a L322, 2005 hse, when the ignition key is inserted all the steering lock solenoids go berserk and the key will not turn, this can go on for thirty mins before the key will go to start, dealer here tells me they will have to send to the UK for complete new system that has to be coded to the chassis number, will cost about £1000,00, and take ten days, anyone any suggestions, any help would be appriciated, thanks

i would first ring a dealer in the uk, try to find out if it is covered under any recall, second, you need to establish the problem component. the £1000 quoted is quite expensive for a lock set!!! i would assume there is a problem with the sensor that detect a key or the correct key. for what its worth, i would spray a bit of wd40 in there and insert and remove key a few times!

it may work to free off any parts that are sticking. let us know what happens!

Thanks for the quick response, tried the wd40 made no difference, unfortunatly will have to wait till tomorrow before I can speak to the UK,hadn't thought about recalls, good point, they are trying to charge me for steeering lock ass, anti-theft control ass and a ignition switch ass plus coding, fitting and DHL from the UK? I think that they are not sure what the problem is so are covering their bases, hence the call for help here.

will have to speak with the UK today and try to find out if there is any re-calls and if it is an inherant problem, at 4yrs old i doubt they will honour any warranties especially here, they seam to think we all own oil wells!!

Sorry, here is, Qatar, middle east, only one LR dealer, no independants, and no independant parts supppliers, everything has to come from the one dealer,by the way no re-calls, spoke to Hillendale, they also gave me some good info, very helpful, where my
P38 in the UK came from.
