A friend of mine has a supercharged 07 plate Rangie and he asked me if I knew how to get the DVD/TV to work when the car is moving. Said I don't know and it is a bit dodgey to do it but I said I would ask, so does anybody know how to get the thing to work when the vehicle is moving?

The other question my friend asked me was if it was possible to get the in car DVD player to be multi region as he wants to be able to use DVD's he bought in the US. Again, I said I have no idea but would pose the question to you.

Any input greatly appreciated, cheers.

Aftermarket DVD/TV systems usually rely on a connection to the Handbrake switch, so if the handbrake is off, screens in the view of the Driver are disabled.

I would assume that LR used something along those lines too, although knowing LR they probably went for a hideous expensive, overcomplicated solution involving satellite tracking and a 24/7 response centre - which would fail in the near future anyway....

As for the MultiRegion thang, search the Web for the model number and see....

i have an 04 range rover and mine works off the hand brake
there is something you can buy, i think its around £80 that can get round this
look it up on the tinter web and im sure you'll find it
filing that tell him to go in the house and watch eastenders on his 50" tv

If its any thing like the aftermarket solutions, its a simple connection to the handbrake switch - when it earths out by the handbrake being applied, the screen works.... So if you move the connection to a permanent earth point it would work...

As I say though, thats on a aftermarket system....

Incidentally, I take no responsibility for your mate killing himself or someone else by watching the goggle box whilst driving.....
