The French are more inclined to kick off than the English as illustrated by the Gillets Jeune protesting over Macron's fuel tax hike.
Electric is not the answer, overall they are more polluting and there is not the generating capacity to support an all electric future.

Yes, mob rule has always been the norm in France, as witness the French Revolution.

I don't think electric cars are the answer either, but the government don't seem to be aware of that.

It's a long way off yet..

Give me a reliable electric Truck or an electric car that can go more than 300mi on a single charge without needing 3 days to charge..

Maybe the bods will come up with alternating fuel for our I/C cars?

Synthetic fuels seem a good place to start https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesoci...017/september/synthetic-fuel-fact-and-fiction

;)

Paris will ban cars registered before 1997 from the city between 8am and 8pm on weekdays, but classic cars registered 30 years or more ago will be allowed to drive.

Hmm so everyone!!

buy a classic and you'll be ok!! ;)

There is plenty of oil in the ground, that isn't the issue. The issue is how much we can put into the atmosphere.

Synthetic fuel is not the answer. Hydrogen might be, but evolving a society that is not car dependent would be a better one.

That information will be shortly out of date, ANY diesel over 18 years of age in 2019 will be banned from greater Paris 24/7. Things are a little less strict for gas guzzling petrol cars.

Hydrogen is, IMO, the way forward. There is a lot of waste energy available from aeoliens for production by electrolysis. A Dutch guy is pushing this.
