Sorry about the lack of info on the RR but I've been hospitalised over December/January with pneumonia and it's been a devil to shake off. I've sent all relevant info to Trading Standards who got in touch with me after I spoke to Citizens Advice. I took the car to an auto transmission expert in Preston myself who reckons it's the Torque Converter that has gone but without stripping it he cannot say exactly, I also took it to K Motors in Leyland who did a safety check on it and it came back with 22 faults which more or less match up with the advisories on the mot the dealer did before selling me the car. I'll keep you posted.

I wasn't aware that Ashcrofts did 5-speed rebuilds.

I guess you could have the torque converter replaced & the valve block stripped and cleaned but I'm not sure how much cheaper this would work out than having the 'box replaced with a remanufactured one. For example, K Motors near me do a replacement for £2300 including a new torque converter and oil cooler Range Rover L322. There will be places nearer to you that do the same, I'm sure.

I can recondition a 5HP24 ('02-'05 petrol L322) transmission for around £500 but I don't tinker with the GM boxes I'm afraid.

Hello Bemble, would you be interested in reconditioning my transmission on my 02 L322? To cut a long story short the garage that sold my the car have now said that they will pay for the gearbox to be reconditioned and I thought of you. Is this something you would be interested in? Andy

@Bemble .;)
If tag their name like above, they are notified. Good luck:D

Hi Andy,

If you’d like to PM me your email address I can get back to you with a quote (assuming yours is the ZF 5HP24 transmission?). I should point out though that I only work on transmissions, and not vehicles, so you would have to make your own arrangements for having the transmission removed and re-installed.

Phil
