long shot but put 2 new bolts in lower leg to hub + new lower arm bolts, old ones could be slightly worn/oval.also even though its recently passed a mot id still look closely at the track rod end

Update:
Question, the gaskets on top of the front strut assm that meet with the top of the arches, are they purely there for corrosion purposes?
I believe it's to stop water firing up into the engine bay when hitting puddles at speed and is referred to as a sealing washer on spares sites.
If you didn't have one it may cause a noise but i am guessing if your struts are done up tight at the top they wouldn't move unless it's the strut itself reference my link above.
Did you tighten the front suspension with the weight on the vehicle?
I know my CV joints make a noise or could be anti rollbar bushes maybe ?

Does it only knock when turning, just thinking CV joint ?
Thanks for reply.
The lower arms And suspension arms were done up with vehicle weight on them
No it does it im a straight line too over very small minor bumps/uneven surface.
Can a few of you do me a favour;
Get someone to rock steering wheel slightly with engine off whilst other person feels inner track rod and feel/hear the rack knocking?
Is this normal? If it's not normal, wondering if its the vertical movement of bumps etc is causing rack to knock.
Thanks!
Can somebody confirm it's just the bush ends that need to be torqued up properly WITH the weight of the vehicle on them and not the ball joint ends too ????![]()
This is from the Rave manual, its just the bush ends, it's so the arm isn't tightened with the bush in one position and then when the weight is on the vehicle it will try and rotate the bush plus any normal movement of the arm during driving I believe.
