L322 drops from D to nothing

After nearly 1000 trouble free miles ( I did get the number right) I have another problem / challenge!

When braking I notice that the car (auto) drops from D to nothing no N is displayed. If I hold the gear lever this doesn't happen.

Also when in D if I lightly touch the gear lever the same problem occurs. Any thoughts?

Have also had the car cut out on ,e on a few occasions when braking, makes it a challenge on a corner.

Guess is the electronic gear box but simple or costly fix, am hoping it's just a gear lever mico switch?

On the P38, the gear selection is made using a cable connected to an XYZ switch, this cable needs to be adjusted correctly to ensure the correct gear selection is made with the lever in the right place....

If the L322 uses the same Cable connection to a gear selection switch, I would summise it is the cable needing adjusting.

is your 322 a petrol or diesel. on the petrols the switch is on the outside of the box and gets clogged up with road crap, a good clean and lube will usually see it right. if its a diesel the switch is on the inside of the gearbox, the diesel box doesnt usual give problems with the switch or cable.

It's a petrol 4.4 vogue 2006 model

Sounds like your gear selector linkage is seizing up where the cable meets the lever on the side of the transmission - a very common problem with the 6HP26.

Thanks, seems to have sorted it. Just get some transmission fault messages now, anythoughts if these will clear on a battery disconnect or is it a main dealer reset
