Hello. My 05 RR Vogue has had to have a new front indicator bulb about a month ago, and it looked slightly corroded when we took the old one out. Today, it seems like it's gone again, but more worryly last week the dip beem light went on the same side (main headlight). Just been quoted £150 just for the bulb, ouch. Happy to buy it obviously, but concerned that there may be a reason the bulb blew (6 years for a Xenon seems pretty rubbish). Does anyone know of any common things to look for or have i just had a run of bad luck? Also, anyone know where i might source a suitable bulb cheaper than through my LR dealer? Thanks!

you can get two replacement xenon lamps off of ebay for £16 !!! lol

dont pay £150 ! lol

6 years for a lamp being bounced around the road doesnt sound bad to me - you should change them yearly anyway as they loose their brightness as they get older

heres the linkeBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

simple test would be to swap the bulbs from side to side first before buying a headlamp bulb, they suffer from bad/ green contacts on the multi plug on the headlights aswel as the indicator bulb holder. start with the simple stuff first, its unlikely the xenon bulb has failed.

Hi,

I had a Xenon headlamp bulb fail on my 2005 L322 two weeks ago - The bulbs were swapped over between the headlamps first to check it was not a connector, or controller issue - Yes, I ended up driving an 80 mile round trip to buy a new bulb from Marshalls for 160 GBP, as the bulb failed the same day I was due to drive long distance over-night. Surprisingly few UK LR dealers local to me at the time stocked one "because they rarely blow" - Sadly, 6 years' bulb life looks normal to me now this has happened.

Also had the headlight controller fail and cause the same initial looking dip beam failure 'issue' when the car was (thankfully) still under warranty - The LR dearler changed the whole headlamp unit at the time, as the controller is located behind the lamp wiper blade mechanism I believe, but it may be possible to swap out the controller if that proves necessary (?) - So hope it's just the bulb, or some other readily fixable cause in your case.

Steve
