Hi all

My L322 has a problem with going into gear first or reverse you have to build t=revs dead slow and then it wont jerk your neck out .
If you try and pull away normal it slams into gear and really clunks into gear.

It ahs been doing it for a year now (dont ask) and all other gears are fine but now getting me peeved poff

cheers Rob

check for excessive play from props ,axles,t/box ,check oil from both by letting out a bit and inspecting it for black colour ,burning ,filings etc to narrow down to gear box,if its box it will need rebuilding

Do you mean that it won't engage gear when you select either D or R unless you put your foot on the accelerator and raise the engine speed slightly - and then it goes in with a bang?

i'd love to know the solution, i have the same problem. also i notice that at about 1500 rpm, theres a slight vibration / hesitation in the engine, possibly a shifting up point for the gears.

It should go into gear as soon as you select it, if it feels as though it is not going in until you increase the revs, then I would look at the gearbox oil. When was it last changed? Needs changing every 30K on the P38.
