The M57 has more than enough ooomph for a 2.5 tonne truck IMO, they are unreliable as standard so looking for more trouble, but each to their own.morning , I have done some research it seems if on original gear box it's not advised to remap as the alloy is of low grade, but the replacement box used high grade alloy so would stand more torque, what I really wanted to ask has anyone had a remap and if so any problems, thanks for your advice, Rob
I wonder where in the UK you can use more power? Traffic jams and ANPR cameras everywhere, last time I was over there it was impossible to get above 40mph.thanks people, it's just that there is loads more power in these td6 to be unleashed, but I'm going with caution and leave well alone, thanks for the advise.
very true, but you can't beat some take off power.I wonder where in the UK you can use more power? Traffic jams and ANPR cameras everywhere, last time I was over there it was impossible to get above 40mph.
In 2.5 tonnes? Rip the guts out of the gearbox, transfer box and diffs.very true, but you can't beat some take off power.
Buy a sports car, I have an MR2 to be silly inyes see what your sayin, but it's nice just to drop into sport mode and go once in a while.
Better still a V8 sports car. I'm quite happy with my suzuki 650 or BMW 1100 if I want to try and lose my license.
ok but why is it that it takes sport mode and is very quick and it takes it, so if I'm right it should be more than able to cope?Nothing to do with driving experience.
The GM5L40E is on it's torque limit in standard form, put extra power through an aged Unit and I can guarantee you trouble. they'll lunch a box in standard tune.
Sports mode just extends the time between shifts to allow "rapid" acceleration it doesn't give access to more power.ok but why is it that it takes sport mode and is very quick and it takes it, so if I'm right it should be more than able to cope?
I've had one on my 03 l322 and it's never given me any problems it's on 177000 now.morning , I have done some research it seems if on original gear box it's not advised to remap as the alloy is of low grade, but the replacement box used high grade alloy so would stand more torque, what I really wanted to ask has anyone had a remap and if so any problems, thanks for your advice, Rob
