L322 2006 4.4 V8 (Jag) 6spd Shift Selector issue

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a L322 2006 with the Jag 4.4 V8 engine and 6spd gearbox. The only thing that's preventing me from buying it is the gear shift.

Goes into what should be the correct positions for the gears, but doesn't always register on the dashboard. It also doesn't start in P as I don't think the car knows the transmission is in P. Biggest issue is, unless it is in sports or manual mode, I have to hold the selector back for it to stay in D.

It sounds like the typical selector bush and cable adjustment issue - the only thing which is making me hesitate on this is that when the selector is in "P", "R", or "N", it wiggles from side to side (as if it was going through the gate into sports mode). Is this really bush and cable adjustment or something a bit more?

Never buy one with a known issue.

Plenty of L322 fish in the sea..

Keep to the Jag motors though.

+1 on the jag motor!
Mine sometimes won't go into low range without forcing the shift a bit so I think it is slightly out of adjustment and not seeing the neutral signal.
