Hi all I have recently experienced loads of water going into the engine tried a new oil cooler but no good ,rather then changing the head gasket I’m going for a second hand engine I’m in the west country so il probably use g o s for the engine ,I’ve got a bit of mechanical experience what’s the hardest task on removing the old lump

Very unusual for these engines to suffer any form of HG issues, like they never suffer from it unless cooked.
So if you're getting coolant in the oil, it's coming from somewhere other than the HG.

Thanks for the reply quite a few people have said the same I have changed the oil cooler and still the could thier be any way it’s coming through the water pump or thermostat area when the engine is cold the water stays in the bottle it’s only after it’s run it slowly drains in to the sump.

Strange issue, could do with looking at a diagram showing oil and water ways, Maby try a good flush out see if clears anything? They are a very tough engine, probably best or most reliable modern diesel, and can be tuned to over 300bhp with stock parts so would be very rare for HG to fail.
