L series Stereo Steering Wheel Remote

Freelander 1999 is it possible to add a steering wheel stereo remote to a non standard head unit?
Is the wiring harness already there ?

I've asked same question in the past someone even sent me (tannaton I think) the paddle for it but I've not got around to fixing it yet, but I'm unsure if the harness is there believe the wiring in the steering wheel exists but I couldn't spot anything when I had the Co sole out or in the LR harness for the radio easy enough to wire in tho I should imagine

Yes its possible. But you need to re configure the pins/wires on the post L series steering wheel w/controls and you need to add pins on the connector that plug into car side of the rotary coupler.

Quoting myself from "what have you done to your Freelander today" thread:

Fitted 03 steering wheel with audio controls to my 99 L-series. Only issue is horn switch is between pin 6 & 4(marked on connector) on the 99. On the 03 horn switch is between pin 4 & 3. Used a short piano wire to rearrange the pins.

The audio controls are now fitted to pin 5 & 3 and 1 & 2 on my 99.

Does anyone know if i need an interface for my Blaupunkt stereo head unit in order to connect it to the steering wheel remote ??
