Hello again LZers,

I have found the problem that has been cauing my hippo to smoke heavily then lose power progressively throughout the week.

My wife has been driving it this week and she mentioned to me that 'it seems to be gettng slower', we used it today and it ended up with the pace of a slug!

I had a look and it was the turbo wastegate actuator arm- it had almost totally unscrewed itself! I had fitted a new turbo 4 months ago and all appeared well, the locknut appeared tight so I didnt feel the need to check it.

So I wound it up again to approximately the right position (I think) and now it goes loads better again.

Problem is im not sure how far should I adjust the linkage?

I dont have a boost gauge available so I was wondering If any helpful L-Series lovers could please measure the distance between the locknut and the capsule.
I know every turbo is slightly different but if I could get a few measurements I will take the average and that will do for me.

Thankyou very much- your help will be greatly appreciated.

If I get a chance ill look tomorrow but from memory if you turn the screw all the way to the end then 4 turns back in should be about right. Problem is ive adjusted mine so wont be as factory anyway.

31.5 mm
I dont know how you intend to measure the distance, but I used my woodturning callipers and verniers, from the nut to the flat face of the capsule?,just above the chamfer.I have another spare somewhere in the garage. I might go check that later .

about 37mm, thats from top of nut to base of the gate and mines adjusted. I would therefore say that on average it should be about 40mm

you buggers have got me worried now where exactly are you measuring from ? im measuring from the bottom of teh cylinder the wastgate arm dissapears into to the top of the nut
