Freelander 1 Kv6 Engine short block

Help just got told from mechanic my 2004 freelander kv6 needs short block just wandering if any 1s had same problem and got it fix.and the best option thanks

I've got a low mileage short block, although it's a long way from NZ.

What's up with yours? Normally the heads go soft if overheated, but the block normally is fine.

Did you solve your previous overheating problems from a year ago?

There are those on here that say the KV6 is fixable when you start getting overheating - and I suppose it should be - but at times most of the V6's for sale in NZ have overheating problems (and they're just the ones that are open about it) and there's been various decent home mechanics on here that have not been able to resolve their problems.

Where abouts in NZ are you?

Hi mechanic said there was something wrong with bottom liners. just seen him today and is going to swap the hole engine.

Hi just started to fix it this year been in workshop for a few months the mechanic did the radiator fans;thermostat housing;manifold gaskets;new water tank.
He said it was running and driving great wasn't in till he went for last test drive just before i was going to pick up started heating up again .he'll be swapping whole engine .hopefully it all goes well im in auckland thanks

Unless it's loosing coolant, swapping the engine isn't the cure.

Forgot to mention it was losing coolant and he did a test in coolant which had exhaust flumes too .

It needs head gaskets then, not the block. The only reason the block needs attention is if coolant is leaking into the oil.
