Hey there,

I've got a lovely 1972 Series 3 which is my pride and joy.I intended to have it fully rebuilt and a new paint job done, but I was told that it would be sacrilege as the paint was original and wasn't that common a colour. Can anybody tell me more about this colour?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome!

Your Landy looks fantastic! I wouldn’t get it rebuilt and resprayed looking at it, from the picture it appears to be in very good condition. At best, I’d get the chassis checked and perhaps change that if it needs it. The paintwork is also in good nick. I can’t tell you what colour but you don’t see many landies in that colour. I’d say it’s best left as-is!

Who needs pornhub when you can nip in the garage and stare at that :)

Stunning little thing, no idea about the colour, joys of being colourblind :p

Thanks. The origninal chassis, engine and body work is intact, so I had it repaired where necessary and Waxoiled. The man who did the work mentioned somehting about it being a Navy specific colour but no more than that.

Welcome very nice!

I'm certainly not convinced that paint is 47yrs old, and even less that it needs re-doing?

If it's original would there not be a paint code stamped on VIN plate under bonnet? I struggled mis matching shades until someone pointed this out to me ;)
