Can any one help i have a t reg 1.8 freelander and every time i turn the steering when moving i get a loud knocking noise think it may be the wheel hub can any help please

Hi newt,and welcome is the noise from the front or rear, i assume it is the front, if so could be yer cv,s [they clunk when worn] but more noticable when turning wheel and moving . . .:)

its not quite continuos but all the time i turn hard left or right its making a clunking noise more so when i reverse but i know its coming from the front

Maybe i didnt mean continuous ,more rhythmic, clunk..clunk..clunk etc and not just one clunk when you set off
If its the first its usually a sign that the CV joint is worn like ming sed
 
Yes well, hi the Mondo,newt , this sounds like a cv joint,very hard ta determin witch side, it will make more noise if driven at a slower speed steer ta right and then ta left if noise is say louder ta right ,then only a gestimate then= rh cv, or if visa versa = lh , this is only a rule oh thumb and not pure conclusive as other factors come into play,but may help ya,best oh luck. . .:)
 
have you had the car long, was it doing it when you bought it? or has it started all of a sudden?

it maybe needs the modified pas pipe to stop the knocking the old ones caused, just a guess hope this helps
 
quickly reads back you never said any think about bumpy roads so ill go with the cv joints :) :) :)

Its just he aint got a nice Hippo to luv, he has to make do with his rusty owld tub and his bike
I think he keeps burnin his lardy arse cheeks on his exhaust, So he's bound to be a bit tetchy:p :D
 
mondo my man!! is yous aving trouble wit yer gaylander agin? yous should know yous ignore slob at yous own peril.. chill dude am sure the nice lgaylander man fix it for another week so long as yous don't intend to drive it anywheres.
