Hi all,

Just completed a trip from Bideford to Swanage to pick up an ifor williams canopy for my 90. £21 from e-bay!! Who says there are no bargains to be had!?

Anyway, I thought i'd ask about a knocking I get occasionally back through the steering wheel.

It's not terrible but it seems something loose on the rack or box. I can hold the steering wheel tight and it knocks. Not serious but a wobble, only at high speeds and only occasionally.

Any immediate thoughts?

Knocking steering...
Check/replace all ball joints
Check tracking
CHeck swivel bearings
Adjust steering box
Replace Steering shaft UJ's
Replace shock absorbers
Tighten drop arm to eye-bulging torque
Get tyres balanced

Ive done all of this, and mine still does it! Do you have manwell or power (tarts) steering?

Oh and LR's don't have racks either, tis all done by a box, and i havn't made mine stop wobbling yet, although it now only does it at high speed or high speed (!) corners

A guy i know told me this...

he had the same thing on both his disco's and i had it on mine. Replace the damper, panhard rod bushes and radius arm bushes and every time it's cured it. Mine did it at 50mph+ just had to go over a bump or shake the steering to set it off.
