 Hi all i have a 95plate 300tdi, i have owned this for about six months now, in that time i have replaced the head gasket complete with skim, cam belt all auxillary belts and a complete service of all components. Tonight i clutch pedal just dropped like a stone to the floor, i crawled home and now frantically needing info on cost etc.If any body has had this problem and knows the realistic cost of repair it would be appreciated, dont really want to spend loads more on repairs.

sounds like the hydraulics have gone or the fork has worn out. A new clutch kit will come with new forks but you will have to check the oily bits first to make sure there is no leeks.

Sounds like the pivot ball has worn through the fork. Both our 110 defenders at work did the same thing within 6 months of each other. (one 200tdi, one 300tdi, both r380 box)
If you take the slave cylinder off, the push rod that operates the fork should be sticking out of the hole. If it it's sort of flush with the hole, then the fork has gone.
Gearbox / Engine out. Excuse to fit a new clutch? I think our local clutch centre charged about £300 .

check the operation of the slave before anything else. hydraulics are the simple fix. New fork and plate are the difficult bits.
