key fob not working

hi my keyfob stopped working after replacing battery tried all the advice on here no luck was going to change lock latch on drivers door so removed door panel to check which lock latch i had and found a multi plug wire pulled out looked liked a earth plug refitted the wire and locking works OK now PLUS the tailgate works again now hope this might help others and save £60 for new lock latch Andy

Hi interesting to read this as i've had problems with door latches on my last p38 sorted, by having new door latch and key fob. But having similar problem with the one i have now and i think the problem could be with the tailgate as couple of times now it has refused to open have to lock and unlock then it operates ,what i am wondering if perhaps wire loose on the tailgate lock, my question is can anyone tell me how to locate the mechanism for the tailgate, before i start trying to take it all apart to find it myself any help appreciated.

the loose wire i had was in the drivers door there are two plugs on mine one with 6 wires and one with one wire which when touched anything metel inside the door locked the car so i think it's a earth plug with just one wire to it, i had wired my boot to earth to make it easier for me but it wouldn't lock with car now iv'e rewired it lock's with keyfob hope this help's Andy

remove the carpet on the lower tail gate and you'll find it all in there. the wires run down the right hand side and are all the same colour, if i remember correctly.

the wire on the door lock might have been disconnected for a reason. i'd check into it to see why it was like that.
