key fob is not locking or unlocking the doors. led on fob is lighting when the buttons are pressed, today replaced the battery with new one, still the same. locking and unlocking with the key. Any ideas as to what could be the problem? the second key fob is the same !!

I had something like this once before. Unlocking the door manually (which set the alarm off) and then starting the engine solved the problem. Don't know if it is worth giving it a go, may work I suppose.

If you can get a handbook there's a section on how to re-synch the keyfob to the alarm. Mine, however is a two buyyon fob without a led so I doubt my handbook would help ...

OK, sorry, there is in mine .. but as I said, mine's a 2 button.

So, what I'd try now is check the battery is OK, that it's connected properly and that any alarm related fuses are intact. Then I'd disconnect the battery for maybe five minutes, re-connect it and see what happens.

disco01 tried this does not work,
Paul D, there is nothing in the owner's handbook on re sysc the fobs.

Hi kid. No but it's in the workshop manual though, ie the release bonnet switch, turn ignition on, open drivers door, ignition off then on etc etc.

Paul D in another LR forum they say it works on a D1 with the two button fob so may get around to trying it tom. But I don't think it will work, then may be it does..:p

it a series 2 disco,
fuses and battery ore ok.
no other issues on electrics,
Led in dish board flashes fast when key locked then slowly as normal

i have the haynes manual but not lr manual.

tried the bonnet swt, ingition swt, door open etc no luck,

I locked myself in, unlocked the door and set off the alarm, fob done nothing, had to use the key to stop the alarm !!
have not disconnected the battery as yet -- dont have the radio code.

You must bear with me discovery kid as after 8 posts I have now found out that you have a D2... Although it has a similiar alarm to a D1 300 series with a two button fob, when you said a LED then we/I assumed that it was a single button fob as used also with a D1.

So the alarm is working but no the central locking then I would look at the fuse for the central locking if ok then suspect the master actuator (or power to it) which is within the drivers door lock. There's more but these two are the easy option.

Re-check the battery voltage .. it's critical on alarm/locking systems. Try hooking another battery up, as though you're jump-starting the Disco and see if it works.

In fact ... are you seeing a pattern from what I and Discool are saying ... Battery, fuses, wiring ........ then check motors on door locks etc ...

Sorry should have stated it was D2,
yes the alarm is working
when the key is turned in the drivers door all doors lock. whould this not indicate that the central locking is working.?

OK the receiver is above the headlining somewhere between the rear sunroof and the boot door and they are known (according to the other forums i read) to pack up, so this may have happend. I think testing via LR's testbook or similar is now required.

I got a replacement received unit (2nd hard) and just plugged it into it cable under the roof headlining, but alarm did not work first off, make a few telephone calls and was told to fully bolt it in place to the mountings and operated the fob 2/3 times and lo and behold the unit is now working correctly.

thanks for all the help

if i am stood away from my 1994 disco the key fob wont work but if i touch the drivers door with it at the same time i press the button it works fine

As mentionedlow battery fit a good make of battery cell not the 50p jobs from eBay the range is short around 10-12 feet away if your lucky try placing the fob in your other hand wile pressing the button or as J Clarkson did the side of your head.
