Key cutting

2006 tdv6
As you can see I’ve swapped all the bits over into the new empty casing but the blade is quite stiff and won’t flip out,you have to pull it out,don’t know if it will loosen or not
As I have a compleat new key on its way and that will need cutting I might as well have the new blank cases blade cut at the same time and then I can fit that back into the case so the flippy bit flips

can a high street key cutting place cut the key or will it have to be done by a proper auto key chap

Some can and others u may have to provide a blank so go and ask, as for “a proper auto key chap” I didn’t know there was such a person.
As for the blade not flipping out find why, iffy spring, case rubbing on the blade maybe.

I have the new blank blade that was in the case.ive tried sanding the case a tad bit it’s just as stiff, if the case is split slightly then the blank flips nicely.
I’ll look about and ask round the local area

hi

when I had my blanks cut , I found that not all key cutting shops could do it , they told me it was the grade/ type of blank , found one that had the correct cutting machine

will try and find the machine they used, I gave them the one key I had and they cut the key which omitted the worn parts , hope that made sense

ref the blade not flipping out, ur see a spring inside which u have to pre load on the blade and then get the cover back on, ur see what I mean with the spring

as you’ve ordered the autel ur at least then be able to program the 2 x keys now and handy having a spare

having the blank cost me £10

So ring round local locksmiths and ask if they can cut blanks on a Land Rover remote key

watched it,did it but the old blade doesn’t flip on its own

Some of the high street key cutters, wont touch a fob if you take it in. They want you to buy their own unit. I use an independent in Newport to do mine. He moans about quality of steel etc, but a fiver is a fiver to him.

Local Timpsons cut my blanks
My Autel AP200 programmed my fob,so all good

yes I fixed it
I had the blade that came with the fob shell cut and fitted it back into the shell
The original blade is now just going to be used as a real emergency get into the car or to be used as a master to have more blade cut from
