i wonder if the fault code needs clearing with a faultmate/rovacom/testbook etc? if you don't have one your local landrover dealership can do it at a price.

whats your location? someone nearby may be able to help out.

hopefully someone will confirm this...

Got that fault on mine at the weekend

Am going to buy a battery tomorrow, as it is on the ramp at the minute waiting on handbrake shoes for it

So will let you know how i get on with mine, probably be wed when i am next in the workshop

ok will be interested to hear from you , i only have one handset which is key 1 would be handy if i had another key to try an maybe i could rule out the other hand set or maybe its a becm problem

Mine does that if the buttons have been held when the FOB is my pocket. The BECM does not log the fault and it should clear with new batteries, mine certainly does. It's a stupid FOB design, the buttons are too exposed. Bloody car often unlocks or super locks as I walk away from it with the FOB in my pocket:doh: I've had to learn to keep the FOB in my hand until I'm out of range:doh::doh::doh:

I had the same prob re low battery.. I tested the volts.. 3v.. I cleaned the batterys, & scrapped the contacts inside the fob.. Remember dont leave finger prints/ grease marks on the batterys, this will effect the performance of the batterys.. Paul

believe i Have the code ( four digit code written in handbook)

but my girlfriends brother borrowed the motor cos his disco 2 was broken and the fob came apart on the forecourt and he put the battery back in. Had to manually lock and unlock twice by the key then fob worked ok

Will see if that works for me tomorrow

Mine is a very early P38 though 1995 on an M reg, dunno if that matters

Had the message come up on mine a couple of weeks ago, replace the batteries in the fob, and it has been good since, did not have to clear any fault codes.

Did not need the EKA code, it does say in the handbook that the batteries need to repalced within 1 minute of removing the old ones, otherwise it may be necessary to re-sync the handset.

tried this, locks and unlocks ok with fob , but when key is inserted into ing switch message centre says key battery low, also says the same when you switch of and remove key. tried 3 sets of new batterys ,still the same allthough the red light doesnt allways come on on the handset, and for the fob to lock and unlock you need to be stood right next to the r/r [ with new batterys in ]:doh::confused:

If the key fob light is not comming on every time you press it, sounds to me like the key fob is at fault.

Before you go and buy a second ahnd one off ebay, some one will correct me if i am wrong, but they can not be programed to your vehicle, it will have to be a dealer part only and the they cost approx £140.

yes i hope your right , i ordered new a key today £136 +vat:mad: from the main stealers as i have only ever had one key so have not got another one to try, pretty sure this is key 1 i have [ labels gone ]ordered a key 2 , hope my origanal isnt a key 2 or the new key 2 would cancel it out . my original is black in colour , where as key 2 "s are normally slightly grey in colour [ i may be wrong ??] . the most concern is the key battery low message , i only hope its not a becm prob , will post any results has they happen:confused:

It would be good to see if it works, i only have one key for mine, i know it is key 2 as it still has the sticker on the back. it is grey. i did read somewhere that both keys are grey its just the battery covers that are different colours. best of luck.
