Keep popping break bulbs.

When it comes to auto electrics i have no idea.

So sorry if this is a bit basic.

I keep popping brake bulbs. On the left hand side only.
The normal rear light part of the bulb is ok. And does not go.
But pops the brake part of the bulb. But its not happening all the time, takes a day or two then it goes. And as I say only the left hand side.
Have replaced the bulbs a few times.

Any Ideas????

I thought that may be the problem but it happened the other day when it was nice and sunny.
And as I said its not blowing the hole bulb. Just the brake filament.

check you have good earths ( even run a wire to the other side for a few days just as a test ) , older motor bikes suffer with this prob , landy wiring is about the same dap lol - seen it a few times and cleaning the earths worked every time ( I know it sounds daft but it works ) .

As I said I have no idea about auto electrics....
How would I go about checking I have good earths or cleaning them?

Arrm yourself with some sand paper and some screw drivers and maybe a 8 or 7 mm spanner ( cant remember now , getting tired ) .
you'll have a corner plate inside right behind the rear lights .

Remove the screws and bolt that hold it on and lift out the way - dont be shocked to find a mass of mud , cobwebs and birds nest of wires behind there .........

Dont start yanking on the wires - look for black wires and you should see a wire bolted/screwd to tha body ( thats your earth point , same each side ) .

remove the screw /bolt thats holding the wire to the body and give it a good seeing to with sandpaper till its nice and clean , also trace that wire up to a joining block .
these will pull out of the block ( but can break , use a block connector if they do break ) and clean them up best u can .
If need be replace the terminal on the body wire with a new one .
If the screw snaps off just drill another hole and use a self tapper screw with a dome/pan head ( counter sunk screws dont make that good a contact ) . Failing that a small nut and bolt will do to the body .

make sure everything works as it should ad go from there .

Hi Sypher, did the work today in my lunch break. Tuck the cover off it was dry but there was a dead spinder.
I cleaned the earth and checked everything els.
And it looks like its done the job.
