Morning all!
Last night me and the Mrs took a trip (from chingford, London) to Huntingdon, just north west of Cambridge. Of all things, to pick up a model car, but anyway.
Some of the most treacherous conditions I have ever driven in in all my life!
The M11 was a death pit, the fast lane near impenitreble due to snow ruts! The smaller roads off the motorway to Huntingdon where amazing!
Up to a ft deep of snowdrifts on the banks.
Saw a few fellow landy owners on the way, one pulling a Merc up a hill.

All in all, the landy performed amazingly!
179 Miles, just over half a tank of fuel used (I don’t think that’s all that bad)

It’s the landys first longer trip since being back on the road this week after a mini 3 month restoration fixing some rot issues and other minor things.

Was anyone else up this way or encountered similar white out conditions?

Not your way, but up here. Had a ten hour experience trying to travel 17 miles. Didn't get there. Got to within a mile, but the Landy couldn't handle 8ft drifts  It was too deep to walk the last mile and wouldn't have left the Landy anyway. Turned around and headed home. That was all day Thursday. Set off 10am got home 8pm
Fab day out though :)

Oh jheeze, that’s bloody deep!
I hope you had some supplies with ya! I’d have been starving hungry
Your right, it’s an experience, but think that’s the last of the snow for us Londoners now!

Fortunately, we had stopped at the corner shop in our village and bought a box of cereal. All we had was Choco Pillows :D
There's a few pics here from post 58

Just looked through your pics. Well done you. Its always a good day when you get home safe.
When we left in the morning we had about 10" of snow fall with drifts of about 2' + in places. Easy to cope with in the Defender. What we had underestimated was how much stronger the wind was towards the coast which was where we were going. It continued to snow, but the wind was creating mega drifts as it blew a lot of the snow off the fields. It wouldn't have been so bad, but you get stuck behind rear wheel drive vans, nissan micras etc. If it wasn't for helping those people (and moving them out of the way) we would have got to the 8 ft stuff much quicker and turned around a lot earlier.:) Until the farmer turned up I thought the stuck snow plough had us beat. Thought we'd be there and back in an hour and a half.

This time I've had two days of battling the elements to and from work, which included driving through a field, to escape being trapped by cars. Powering through short 3 ft snow drifts. Driving through long stretches of 6 inches to a foot deep.

A few years ago just long stretches of six inch deep snow. And the odd 2ft drift

Back in the eighties in pre landrover days. Following a snow blower from Dunblane to Oban being the first car through in 3 days. The snow being higher than the car.

Ten years before that travelling home from school in Inverness, in a coach of other school kids across Skye, being escorted by a blower in front to the ferry in Uig. The snow was higher than the coach.,

Wow! Just looked at your pictures, anyone would never have believed this was the uk unless you told them!
Same again next year I hope, it’s onky a few days of disruption ahaha
Yeah, look forward to a bit more of that. However! I'm going to try and avoid a 10 hour adventure next time! :(
