Just put an order in for a new Freelander 2 HSE in Rimini Red with the Storm Grey interior. Added a few extra's as in their standard form are a bit bland so from the factory it is to have privacy glass.
Then from the dealer I hope to add the sidesteps, front driving lamp pods, front bumper styling cover (gives it a bulkier stance), mud flap kit, roof rail kit, colour coded door handles, chrome mirror covers, front & rear bumper colour coded body kit finishers with chrome exhaust finisher & possibly the bright fender vents & door sill stainless tread finishers.

Comes with the 18" alloys but intend to sell them immediately on collection if I can get a set of the 19" shadow chrome's at a sensible price.
I've been told the vehicle should be ready in late November. Got a very good deal on it, the accessories & the finance.

Flash Bastid. . . . .hope the doors fall off when they get wet ;)

Really have pushed the boat out to buy (finance) this so hope I enjoy it lol.
They also gave me an off-road day voucher.

Told them not to valet it as I don't want some clown try to polish it & they have agreed to let me wash it on arrival & polish it in the showroom lol!!

s /pose to be a good motor . . . . .let us know wot you think :) :) :)

Sounds nice - not my cup of tea, prefer underbody protection to side steps.
Definately get the dealer to fit the roof bars, cos there a b*gger to fit, getting the capping off without breaking it takes patience/practice.

Doors don't fall offwhen wet, door bottoms "fall"off when dry, but you do have to try hard. :beer2:

:nopics: I wanna see, I wanna see!!!

Where's the green with envy smilie :(

Will post up pictures when I get it. I plan to do photo's as I did when I got my new MG ZR-Express back in 2005 at the dealer as it arrives before PDi & then obviously when it is handed over!

I was going to have the chrome side protection tubes but I saw a Freelander 2 with the steps & they gave the vehicle a broader stance & there is only £3 difference.

I intend to get the dealer to do the roof rails too!

I have been searching Ebay & found a set of the Rimini Red door handle finishers nice & cheap along with the walnut dash veneer kit for £90.

I have also found a set of the 19" shaddow chrome alloys which I shall probably put a deposit on in the next day or so - SO if anyone is likely to want a set of the 18" HSE alloys & tyres "brand new" then let me know....

Blimey! How long does it take you to do 1 car???
If a Full (Premium) service on a standard saloon car in an average condition around 4.5 hours but if you add engine bay clean & dress, leather treat etc add another hour or so.

The Freelander has now been built so I have been told & managed to sourse a few of the accessories that I am after on ebay from Landrover dealers selling on disposal lists which has saved a fair few quid.

The Freelander in it's standard form even the HSE is a bit boring so I am putting the following items on it.

Privacy Glass (factory).
Side steps.
Roof Rails.
Front Bumper styling Cover - Normally over £200 - ebay £51 :).
Front Driving Lamp Pods.
Front Bumper Styling Addition (body kit).
Rear Bumper Styling Addition (body kit) Comes primed as the front part & you have to paint - cost for this just over £300 - got a new one on ebay in the right colour for £40 :):).
Chrome Exhaust Finisher - £90 got new one on ebay posted for £28 :).
Colour Coded Exterior Doorhandles - over £100 - ebay £42.50 :).
Chrome Mirror Backs from an ebay seller "Chromiumtech" as they are hugely cheaper than from Landrover.
Chrome Front Wing "Fender" Vents.
Rubber Loadspace Mat.
Front Headrest Entertainment System (video screens & kit) - retail price over £1100 - on LR disposal = Very Cheap :):).
Walnut Dash Veneer Kit - LR price £396 - ebay £77.50 :).
Upgrade 18" alloys to 19" *.
Will get the Stainless Steel door sill tread plate later on too.

* The 18" alloys will be swapped at the garage & will be offered for sale. There is an add for these in the classifieds. I am open to offers on the stated price.

what you've spent on extras could have gotten you a proper land rover

As I'm not using it off road it's good enough for what I want it for. It has a Landrover badge & made in the same factory so is a proper one. The Defender is nice but only if you want it on a farm would be useless for my job as it would look to old & basic.
Discovery - ok if you can afford a new Disco 4, 3's arn't too bad otherwise no thanks.
Can't afford a decent RangeRover Sport.

the trouble with any tradesman is that if ya turns up on a job with a new fancy vehicle peeps will think your making a few quid and possibly over charging them

Yes in many cases I would totally agree but the amount of positive comments I get with my MG ZR-Express Van are amazing & previously when I had the Rover 75 Connoisseur SE Tourer & the Freelander Mk1.
Many people have commented on how clean & smart my vehicle looks & they say I hope my car looks like yours when finnished & others say It is obvious you are interested in what you do by the condition/spec of your vehicle.

I guess this is because I am out there cleaning up peoples cars & they appreciate someone turning up in a decent vehicle to sort theirs out & I have had some occasions where people have said if you had an old van or just a normal large van like a Transit they wouldn't want me on their drive.

i'm not disagreeing, the MG van was probably an ideal vehicle, but an F2 is in a different league in terms of expense, which might give rise to your customers wondering just how much money your making (out of them)

turn up in a scruffy van and they'll wonder if you'll do a good job

turn up in a nice tidy fit for purpose vehicle and they'll just assume you work hard for a reasonable living

turn up in a fancy new vehicle and they might start looking elsewhere

....... just me thoughts anyways
