From the world of unintended consequences....
I noticed during the recent snowy period that snow builds up on headlights these days, reducing the output considerably...and also can obscure the rear lights on cars where the lights are not mounted vertically. The lack of heat output on these new bulbs means the snow doesn't melt!
Just a thought..... :)

I fitted a pair of these over a year ago - as said they are great - the old bulbs - the standard LR ones - looked yellow by comparison.

They also come with 20 or 25 LEDs - eBay is chock-a-block with them.

Only drawback is if you run with dipped beam on a lot the porcelain like material that the leds are set in starts to crumble after 6 months or so.

I regularly visit countries where the traffic laws say you must have either DRLs or dipped beam on all the time even in towns.

I can only deduce that this is due to the heat from the dip bulb which is pretty close to the sidelamb bulb.

The LEDs are not bright enough to be substitutes for DRLs.

I'm not bothered too much as they are cheap as chips and I have bought a spare set as they really enhance the look of the car.

If they last a year to 18 months I'll be happy.

I never understood the reason for that i mean whats the logic after it? Do you have it in the UK too? The new VW are all fitted with DRLs as standard since i think its that way in Germany. To be honest i like them :D

Not at the moment, but we do live in a country with more restrictions and regulations than enuf. We have a nanny state here, where we just follow orders like robots and the bad peeps have more rights than the good!

I think that driving around with any kind of lights on in broad day light is ridiculous!!

They make you much more visible if there is bright sun low on the horizon behind you. You might not need them... but is certainly helps oncoming traffic!

I get it with motorcycles but cars na. If you cant see me coming you shouldn't be on the road. How about a 3 mph speed limit and a chap with a red flag walkin ahead - its bollocks!!

Obviously you don't get as much low sun down south!
