Hi all,
I have recently returned to the Land Rover fold after 3 years driving a Toyota Rav4.1, and a very good car it was, but following an accident I need an Automatic and now own a Black 2003 Freelander TD4 Auto Serengeti with good service history and average mileage, BUT!!!!!!!!! I need to know if this model has the same problem as all my previous Freelanders ie|: Leaking Rear Door?
The car was previously owned by an elderly couple with Dogs, and needed a very, very good valetting before I would even consider driving it very far. I think water has been getting into the load area because the locking hatch lid has rust on the hinges and there is quite a smell when you open the back door. So could it be wet or whatever else!!! from the dogs? or will I need to replace the door rubber seal?
Cheers

The rear door seal problem was never actually "fixed". However often removing the seal and refitting it cured the problem. The seal is expensive but is available if you want to change it.
On a different note.
I had to pressure wash boot carpet because the previous owner left dogs in the car for longer periods of time. The smell was much improved after the carpet was stripped out and the boot floor was washed.
