Portalrover is doing an expedition to Morocco in September, and we have looked into ferries etc. Bottom line for us traveling from Scotland is, ferry to Amsterdam, drive to south of Spain. This is £500 cheaper than getting a ferry from Southampton to north Spain. The trip from Holland to Gibraltar is 25 hours, so we recon to do it in 3 days with nights in the mountains in north Spain.
If you live in the south of England, then the Euro tunnel would be the way to go. Ferry from UK to Spain is circa £700 return !
