There seems to be quite a few people on here with an interest in having a go at greenlaning :)

Would it be worth trying to organise runs in different areas led by a couple of local experienced laners for people to have a go ,with help there if they need it ?

A sound idea.

I've been walking a number of lanes in my local area as a way of getting to know the range of "challenges" :) but very conscious that there are very few lanes I would want to try on my own and it would be so much nicer with someone who actually knew the terrain!

Did do a "newbie safari" Hindhead way with an experienced laner and it is a great way to explore and build confidence in your vehicle.

Would need to be clear of the expectations - hardcore mudplugging or a gentle bimble - as a Hippo owner, the latter being more my interest :D I'll leave the bonnet-covering-suspension-knackering exploring for braver souls than me!

Oh, I'd be interested in an explore of some of the lanes in NE Hampshire ;)

It's roughly what I've been doing round Doncaster way. The lanes here are pretty, mostly farmers tracks, but look nice, some offer a bit of a challenge, but most are pretty tame, so ideal for newcomers, Freelanders etc .. We've taken standard Discos and Range Rovers round them on road tyres from Landyzone, but also a couple of Nissan X-Trails, a Kia Sorrento, a Hyundai Sante Fe and a few Defenders/Series. Only a couple of mud-holes, a couple of rutted areas, and a few hundred yards of scratchy stuff ...

All good fun ... ;)

I am very new to all of this! I have my first Land Rover, a SIIA 109 which has just passed it's MoT, so getting used to how it drives but would like to venture out on gentle green lanes in the South Yorkshire areas.

Dont want anything too challanging so I dont break anything!

Sorry, next three weekends are taken up already ...

I'd definately be up for meeting up and taking in some countyside with a few buddies who can pull eachother out of a tight spot- or deep hole more like!
I'm in Suffolk though- is there anyone out there....?

I think that you would be best to call them UN-organised runs.;)
