Well the freebie is gone and replaced with a diesel vectra. Just in time too by the sounds of it. The rumble i thought was vcu bearings again turned out to be back diff or at least those bearing according to new owner.

Straight swap too.

Better mpg obviously, speed and less stress. Not that my landy gave me any but theres alsays that niggle
 
My Freelander was great once I'd put it together properly which the factory had forgotten to do. The I got rid and got a diesel Golf which was fab until the DMF and clutch went, the water pump leaked, the head gasket went and.... and now I'm looking for another Freelander...
 
I did the same thing except to a diesel Mondeo Estate 130. 63mpg on the motorway and 42 around town. I'm rich when compared to when I've owned Hippos.....

I will never jump ship ,I nearly did with my first freelander but then had a offer I could not refuse just when it was going to cost loads a money to be spent I am now happy again with my 2006 hse td4 auto
