Hi All

I feel wheel jugger when I turn the vehicle into the drive or round a roundabout. Also noticed if reversing out of the drive.

Start to happen after leaving the car wash.

It does appear to be heard on the front not the rear. May be more judder when turning left or right.

is this a dif issue?

Any idea?

Yep lots of ideas, probably your viscous coupling starting to seized up,
It will bugger up the transmission and diffs if left,
Remove prop shaft with coupling so you are front wheel drive only until you sort it,

Yes it’s a easy job, just unbolt and remove, when the centre coupling seizes it makes it permanent four wheel drive,
That’s fine on snow/ice/sand and any loose road surface but on Tarmac it puts massive load on the gearbox and diffs,
Bells do reconditioned VCU units but there are a lot of Micky mouse ones out there so buy wisely,

Just to confirm you do mean a Judder? When on full lock and driving slowly?
Yes I feel judder from the front wheels when on full lock and driving slowly. Notice more when on a roundabout or turn into a drive etc.

You you think it is the VCU ?

Two weeks ago I got the Reduced Tracktion error on the dash. It disappeared after 24hours. Some people point to the Hedix unit. May have spelt that wrong by the way.

A FL2 doesn't have a VCU, it uses a Haldex coupling instead. ;)

Sounds like the Haldex has seized. When was the fluid last changed? Haldex fluid should be changed at 20K mile intervals, or damage can be done. Also it's advisable to have identical tyres on the vehicle, which reduces wear on the Haldex clutch pack.

Many thanks. Yes we always have same tyres. Target the Haldex. Is the Haldex on the rear or the front?

kind regards

john

Apologies I thought you had a freelander 1, yes as others have said the likely culprit will be the Haldex unit,
