Recently picked up a 2007 TDV8 auto, no tow bar...
Back ground on the car 32k ago it had a gearbox and torque converter refurb and has been well looked after by previous keepers since, plenty of paper work.
I have done some searching and found many answers, has anyone else had this and have the definite solution?!

Between 1800-2000rpm/30mph noticed it has a little judder climbing up the revs, the revs bouncing up and down a little then alls ok. More recently between 2000-2500rpm/50mph same thing...
That's all at light throttle say 1/4, just to maintain speed limit. Yet if you push it harder there's either no hiccup or a definite one. When light throttle is applied or trying to pick up in the mid range it's like the gearbox can't make its mind up which gear to pick or something is slipping (torque converter issues?)

Only major thing I can think of prior to noticing this is that the battery some how lost its connection. Everything went dead upon trying to re start it after a drive and having the bonnet up. No interior lights or outside under wing mirrors and the key wouldn't turn in the ignition nothing. A little check and shake of the battery and it fired up, so battery is properly secured in place now and terminals checked. It will be upgraded later on as it looks a little small to me spec wise.

Read that the gearbox ecu does a kinda reset if the battery is disconnected and it has to re learn the driving style?

Other options I've read on this issue;
* flush the torque converter cooling system and replace hoses etc. Use BMW spec blue coolant not the red as it calcifies inside the cooler reducing efficiency.
* torque converter is on way out
* new oil in gearbox/ check oil levels in all
* re set gearbox ecu/ update its settings.

Obviously starting with the cheapest is the way to go! I'm yet to source a Gap ||OBD scanner to install any updates though a scan on a mates revealed no codes just some updates are available for my model.
Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks for reading/mulling this over!

Solution for anyone else who comes across with this issue. Get this carried out;

Wynns autobox flush & adaption reset, including some Dr Tranny. Done at Quattro Autocare, advert was on eBay for disco 3 from memory. Drives fine now

Hi, I realise this is an old post.
I had exactly the same, judder going up hill at 30mph.
Took it to a specialist who charged me 600 quid, it was fine for 12000 miles now its back.
He said it was the torque converter???....looks like the box was dropped but now I'm wondering, other places wanted double!!
