Jolting to stop when pulling away

Hi all and thanks for allowing me to join, I have an issue with my 2014 free lender two hse, at times , not always when pulling away it jolts to a stop almost like someone has pulled the handbrake on but it’s an electronic hand brake
I have take it to various places who plug their computer in and it returns as no fault , it will be fine for couple days then donut again always when pulling away from first into second not as much if pulling away slowly
My main dealer has now had it for a week they have changed all abs sensors that didn’t work now they are saying I need to pay £1300 for another sensor but they cannot guarantee if this is the issue , it’s also non refundable as it has to be set to the car
Anyone had similar issue or can advise please ?

Get refund for all the work done that didn't need doing then find another garage!!!

They are taking the ****. There are no sensors of the FL2 that come even close to costing £1300. It's a car made by LandRover, not a bloody space ship built by JPL.

When the car stops, does the ESP light on the dash illuminate?

If not, and there are no error codes, then the problem is more likely to be mechanical, rather then electrical.

The parking brake shoe assembly would be the place I'd start looking, although find another garage that knows what they are doing first.

Agreed, the primary fault here is the garage.

I imagine the part they are wanting to replace is the BCM - this is the goto part to replace for mechanics who haven't a clue what's going on and almost certainly won't fix it. I can only conclude they pick the BCM because the dealers make a huge margin on it, so they can then scatter replace other parts in the hope of fixing it and covering face.

Why on earth would anyone replace the ABS sensors in the hope of fixing a problem? The ABS sensors are one of those things on a car that, if they fail, a specific error code is displayed. Did you have any ABS/traction warnings on the dash board?

Thanks chaps , no lights come on at all and it does not happen if you pull away in second gear or if you pull away really slowly but pull out of junction fast then bang you stop !
Such a shame had the car for three years and it’s been perfect still only just onto 49k miles , it also seems a little laboured as I’d somethings holding the horses back

Do the wheels skip or skid when it stops?

Evidently on F2 there are no separate drum and shoe based hand brakes. The rear calipers have a motorised actuator that pushes the caliper's piston.

It looks like the early D3/D4 system that used separate drum and shoes. It only had 1 input to activate the brakes, ie the activation switch that the driver set, although it used other inputs to release the brake. The F2 (and Evoque/Dsport) system looks to have done away with that and will apply the hand brake when the ignition is turned off or the car is put in Park (not sure how that works for manual cars - maybe there is still a switch). What ever, it does look like there is "logic" in there for the car ('s electronics) to apply the hand brake without a specific request from the driver.

Incidentally, the hand brake module on an F2 costs £95...

Maybe the garage have tried a known working one of these as maybe its not coded to the vehicle.

It seems a strange fault.

Does it have a proper parking brake, or an electronic one?
Being a 2014 model, it should be electronic.
Just a thought. Are all the tyres identical?
