Jacking point for axle stands? S3 SWB

Hi guys, a bit of minor technical help appreciated. I need to tighten up my 1984 S3 88” steering. I’ll start with the adjustment nut under the wheel arch, before moving on to the rest if/when I need to. First time I’ll have tried to raise the whole front end though.

Here’s the question: if I’ve got the jack on the jacking point, where exactly do I put the axle stand (3Tonne, assume these are OK?)? And where’s the best place to place a trolley jack if my pal will lend me his? (Yeah, I know, the floor …) Pics ideal if anyone has them.

I use the btm of diff case if lifting both sides, for the stands use either the axle itself or underneath the spring hangers.

let us knowhow you get on with the steering, i had an advisory on the MOT for it being slighly stiff, triedthe nut on steering box but too much and its very stiff and back it offa touch and then too much free play on steering wheel

Wouldn't it be nice if you had welded a lump of metal on bottom of your axle, so you could put the trolley jack under the middle of the axle?

Thanks Steve. Here's hoping the simple solution to steering play works. Why do I think I'm being over optimistic ...
