My TD5 90 has no jack. A previous owner must have thoughtfully removed it. I would like one in the car and was thinking of a bottle jack from trusty halfords. However, if buying a new one - is there a nice one that would fit along the bulkhead and look the business? Anyone got any recommendations? Little off road use for the car - mostly horse box towing! Regards

Bottle jacks are great, need one that will lift high enough and with a long enough handle to protrude from the underneath ( assuming you're lifting from the axle ). Ideally you want one from a Disco/RR as these fit the bill, MercedesSprinter ones are good too. Trouble with the 'standard' bottle jacks is they don't have the cradle you want to lift the axle safely. Someone's going to say farm jack/Hi Lift, I carry one and they're really useful, but I still use a bottle jack for lifting under normal circumstances!

Get a Landy bottle jack the earlier red ones were heavier and seemed better made
The black Tdci ones are ok but to any Tdci owners it's worth checking em cos they rust around the top ram when stored and often need coaxed back to life, worth checking rather than in crap weather when you needed it the most

Don,t buy one that's too tall. Remember that the axle will be closer to the ground with a flat tyre. Also I carry a 12 inch square of 3/4 inch ply to jack on if I'm on soft ground.

Personally I wouldn't use a high lift jack for swapping tyres as they lift the whole vehicle instead of just the axle, mine has a tendency to pop the rear springs out if I jack up the back corner.

I use a trolley jack 👍 ( comes in a nice orange van ) 👍👍👍😄😄😄😄
