£500, ebay. 1993 on a K plate. 140k. 200tdi

Boot floor has gone, n/s
wheel arch needs some welding,
hole in the boot door column (top left above hinge & bottom right corner). O/S rear wheel arch has been welded but needs tidying up, N/S rear wheel arch needs repairing. Drivers door skin is flapping in the breeze. Interior is a bit shabby but will clean up ok.

Recently had new rear exhaust, 2x new rear tyres, new clutch, fork and slave cylinder in august, new front swivel pins, rubber boots and seals (swivel housings not changed), both front wings and footwells rebuilt for MOT. Poly bush kit and heavy duty rear springs, along with 'like new' 2nd hand radiator this summer too.

Mot until apr 2009, tax until august 2009.

Opinions?

If the body is shâgged leave it alone.

No matter how much other new stuff is on it, it'll still be a nightmare.

In the current climate, why buy a heap of pooh when by being patient you'll find something in better structural condition.

That's my two-penn'th

I see what youre saying, but for that budget, im not going to get much better. Ive got a 18 month old vectra that will be used for all the normal trips, the disco will just be the occasional countryside trips, the odd green lane etc. This wont be my life workhorse, more of a plaything...

i could go out tomorrow and buy a brand new disco3, but i dont trust myself with a new Disco 3... Not yet anyway ;)

sounds like alot has already been done but rectifying or adding to other peoples welding can be a nightmare . £500 is top top wack for an old rotbox i would hang on for something better if i were you :) then again i run an old 200 that i have welded back together in alll the usual areas so best of luck :beer2:

Paid just over £500 for my 95 300tdi cums wif air cooooon and everyfink. 10months mot and a couple months tax. did need a new rear floor and patching up in places but no flappy hangin off panels though. That were before the poop properly hit the fan aboot the cridit crunch and prices droped even more. I got her about 6 months ago ish. Stainless bull bars / stainless side steps / stainless spots up front / cd stacker / abs / a/c / 4x leky windows / central locking and a cat 1 alarm system / twin leaky sun roofs / proper landrover dog guard / roof bars with the cross bar thingys / dixon bate adjustable tow bar with twin electrics and about 3 quid change in the ash tray.

500quid or under is the drive it till the mot runs out then break it for spares bracket. You can't expect a good un for that kind of money.

you can get a pretty reasonable disco for £500 in the current climate, I'd steer clear of anything with that much rot myself. have another look on ebay there's shed loads of tidier discos for that price.
Got mine off ebay before the credit crunch for not much more than that and it had new boot floor, polybushed, uprated shocks, bull bars, tree sliders etc, just been mot'ed with only one little patch of welding needed.
Only my opinion though but i'd be a bit mercenary about it and wait till after xmas and new year when people are really feeling the pinch and get a proper bargain.

Paid £480 for my 1993 200 tdi (no tax or test) needed "7 small holes welding and swivel bearing sorting"..bought that beginning of October and still welding it up! Boot floor was like a seive, arches were worse than they looked at first, rear crossmember needed patching (after I removed the 1/2 ton of fibre glass filler...) and a couple of bits at the front body mount. The body is in great nick, interior is pretty good too. An the engine is clean enough to eat ya dinner off. I thought I'd got more of a bargain than maybe I did but it'll be a nice little motor for the money once it's back on the road.
