mentioned this briefly in another post but would like some clarification if anyone is willing and able.

temp guage sits on the edge of the red.

rad has been flushed and new coolant added. the temp measured by dipping a thermometer in the coolant in the top of the rad is a constant 65-67c with engine running and guage on the edge of the red.

top of rad is hot but is cooler the further down you go, but still warm at the bottom, no cold spots.

is my guess that this must be an incorrect guage reading accurate?

sorry if this has been answered in other posts but have had a good hour going through them and cant find anything.

Seeing as the thermostat opens at 82*c (if memory serves me) and you're running at under, its most probably the sender or voltage regulator

Correct me if I'm wrong though, thats only a rough guess

no the reading was bang on, stuck a thermometer in the cooland in the top of the rad, 82c water would have mixed with the water in the rad before hitting the thermometer though. you could see the temp drop to 65c when stat was shut and rise to 67c when it opened.

didnt seem over hot to the touch either (the rad) and temp stays pretty constant. heater is warm rather than toasty.

all leads to faulty sender i reckon but its allways good to have multiple views if your new to the trickseys of a certain vehicle.
