Bought a new radio for my LR90 that has had a TD5 dash fitted....or so the seller told me. The centre has an orifice not quite big enough for the radio so thought i'd take that out and enlarge said orifice! Right, eventually got the 2 lower screws out and now seems to be fixed some way at the top.......further investigations and it seems this dashboard is pretty sh1te......I'm now thinking of ripping dash out and obtaining a replacement.
The LR is an 87 vintage so I don't know what the original would have been and how much of what I have is original or TD5 bodge?
What will fit if I replace it?
The speedo is incorrect as the engine has been changed so I could change all that out as well.
Does anyone have a link to a thread/website where it shows step by step how to to it.....i can fumble my way through it all but there is bound to be a logical way of doing it!!
Any advice appreciated!

Forgot to mention it has had a TD5 bulkhead fitted!!

Well, I bought it as a bit of a project and it doesn't seem to be letting me down so far!!!

You need to remove the top dash pad first before you can remove the TD5 radio console. Remove both air vent covers with two screws each, remove three large screws that are closest to the windscreen, then two screws underneath the dash top each side of the console. Loosen off the heater controls alongside the clocks, at the other end, prise out the land rover logo from the grab handle and remove screw. Dash top should now come out, you will now see the remaining three screws holding the top of the radio console in.

Cheers, that makes sense now......

Does anyone know what model this dash is from? I realise its LHD but assume it will be available in RHD, looks 10x neater than mine?

Looks like a post 2002 model to me. And much as I hate to disagree with James it doesn't look like an air-con model to me because I have the latter and it is quite a bulky affair that goes the full width of the dash underneath.

Oh, and I find that I've got to undo the instrument console as well to get the top panel off, because it has to come forward slightly to disengage from the metal frame behind.

There's some useful stuff on Retroanaconda's site about installing the later model electronic instruments in earlier Land Rovers, which might help if there are any spare wires that don't match up or things that don't appear to work.

Thanks, i've bookmarked that link. :tea:

Ive now got most of the dash out and I think if i spend some time on it I can get it back to a decent standard....would like to upgrade it but to be honest its probably going to be a waste of money if this one looks ok when I've finished. Just need to get the front plate adapted for the radio.

I have a td5 dash with a raptor fitted - it was a real pain in the arse to fit but I'm really happy with the finish. Unable to upload any pics at the moment but there are some on here if you search for dash upgrades.
