It Sounds Like A Milk Float

Hi All As the title suggest I started my P38 and there is a whine from under the bonnet. When I drive off it sounds like an electric milk float:eek:

Have you been under the bonnet to try and even source the problem?? Get under there and have a listen, use a mechanics stethoscope and listen to the bits that have the serpentine belt running them, same with the a/c belt (does the petrol have a separate a/c belt??). If you dont have a stethoscope then use a long reach screwdriver and put it on the part and then put your ear on the handle and listen to see if you can find the whine.

Just posting that you have a whine without even saying what you have checked is like saying 'I have a rattle from the front under the bonnet - what is it?'.

-Wills :)

Thanks Gavbriggs

I have a listen and feel about and when I put my hand on the alternator you can feel the vibration. I've spent a bit of time searching about for prices Britpart are about £109 and Rimmer Brothers about £500:eek: Dingbro my local factors are £230 + vat. Britpart appear to be trade only what should I expect to pay I'm on the verge of putting the Rangie in my lock-up and just running my £400 Fiesta all the time

try p38 spares on ebay they have v8 alternators for £125 +postage mine has been whining for about 12 months must get round to changing it
