I've been trying to buy a steering wheel control cable for my Pioneer head unit.
I removed the Land Rove stereo that was in the car when I bought it which the steering wheel controls worked fine with.
I bought an Autoleads cable and Pioneer patch lead from eBay, chose the 2001-2003 BMW round pin connector, took the stereo out & found it has flat blade ISO connectors.
I sent the Autoleads back asking for the flat blade type and they sent me a Defender cable.
Having checked on eBay it seems my type of cable (standard ISO type) doesn't exist in any Freelander, so someone has already had a play with it!
I can plug it directly into my Pioneer head unit without any adaptor but whilst everything works, it won't allow me to control it using the steering wheel controls.
I decided to see if I can match the colours on the existing wiring loom in the car to those on the Autoleads cable I was sent to see if I can get that to work. If I can match them up I can put the blade pins into the corresponding order of a female ISO socket I have laying around rather than cutting and soldering it in permanently.
Only problem is I don't have a clue which colour wires do what on the Freelander!
Can anyone confirm for me which colour wires do what?
On the Autoleads cable I have:
White = Front Left +
White/Black = Front Left -
Green = Rear Left +
Green/Black = Rear Left -
Grey = Front Right +
Grey/Black = Front Right -
Purple = Rear Right +
Purple/Black = Rear Right -
Black = Earth
Yellow = 12V Memory
Orange = Illumination
Red = 12V IGN
Blue = Antenna Remote
Red/White = ??? (it goes into the Autoleads Resistive Module)
On the ISO cable in the Freelander I have:
Grey/Black = Speaker?
Grey/Pink = Speaker?
Yellow/Black = Speaker?
Yellow/Pink = Speaker?
Orange/Black = Speaker?
Orange/Pink = Speaker?
Blue/Black = Speaker?
Blue/Pink = Speaker?
Black = Earth
Green/White = ????
Red/Orange = ????
Black/White = ????
Purple = ????
Black/Red = ????
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!!!
