I have just bought a discovery 2 TD5 automatic. It seems quite sluggish compared to my freelander automatic. I cant hear the turbo whistle on the discovery and wondered if it was working. Is there any way I can tell before going to a garage? Thanks.

The normal forum etiquette on this site is to go to the new member section to introduce yourself before asking for help.

The only real way to check the effectiveness of the turbo is to check the amount of boost it's producing, to do this you will need to connect a boost gauge after the compressor outlet and do a road test monitoring the amount of boost which is produced at different engine RPM.

Don't know how much boost pressure a standard TD5 produces but you should be able to research that on Google.

Not a very nice introduction either.:rolleyes:
Do you work for a Land Rover Dealership by any chance? I have found them to be up themselves and self righteous. Was hoping here would be everyday chilled people just helping each other.

I would also like to point out I did not see when joining that it was compulsory to do an introduction about oneself!!! You can join facebook for that. Thought this was about Land Rovers.

Sadly pal that's just the way it is on here, politness and good manners count for very little on this site, however do not be put off as you can get some usefull information when needed.Ignore the moronic comments and welcolme, I am interested in what you have to say so fire away !!;)
Thanks, you and a few others who have given me some useful information have restored my faith in this site.

Many thanks. I think I will bite the bullet and get it tested at our local 4x4 garage.

To be honest I was thinking of answering your points one by one but I just can't be arsed.

I think you'll find that on most motoring forums it is normal, not to say just polite,to introduce yourself a bit before asking for help.

However you don't get that so as far as I'm concerned I'm done with this.

Got to agree with you there !! why oh why do you have to "introduce yourself" is this some special club, maybe the yacht club or a posh golf club ?? well no just people who want usually to ask a question about their disco or for some to be just a little beligerant, give as good as you get mate !! now no doubt this will get a testy responce but I can take it and dish it !!
