If you have nothing else to do for the next couple of years to fix it then buy it. It does not look a quick or easy fix.
Me personally i would run a mile looking at a vehicle in that state. They are usually 4 cars up in a scrap yard in that state. All depends on your time you have to fix things and how deep your pockets are.
Good luck if you do buy it :)

The two wheel arches will require replacing for a start, removing the old ones, installation of new plus painting etc etc. If then there’s no other MOT issues u can spend your time with a rolling restoration starting with the engine bay. The vehicle looks okay externally :)

The vehicle is quite rare, if as it appears, being equipped with a rear a/ c system.
As you will have an MOT failure you should get the vehicle cheap.
As it a common issue there’s info already in the Forum on the repair, you may or not be able to see the attachments. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/search/73541178/?q=Discovery+rear+wheel+arches&o=relevance&c[node]=8

Pretty disco, also take a look at inner wings, boot floor, front footwells and sills. Usually these and the arches you know about will all rust before the chassis. Chassis rust on these is normally fairly near or behind the rear spring mounts

Good job its 475 miles from me, my drive is full enough already. 500 quid is a bargain unless its a real dog and has slipped liners

Probably Yes it is, as they say it is a rare model.
Ok wee bit more info the inner wings might need a bit of work & one of the rear calipers is in the boot & it
has no brake fluid its a recovery job. But I do have a full new braking system on my other disco lol

Runs great apparently..

Just been put on Gumtree tonight. Don't think it will be on long once people start looking tomorrow.

That will be rarer than rare, so rare I bet theres very few to none D1s left on the road with rear a/c.

Years ago I wanted a 300tdi with rear a/c, and spent ages looking, in all that time I found one and it had sold!

I had a td5 with rear a/c and its great for people and the dog, again pretty rare.
