always been proud of how bombproof my TD5 has been despite how badly I have treated her she has tried her hardest not to let me down even running on for six months with a cracked cylinder head (with a bit of steelseal.... I have since rebuilt the engine to as new factory standards but with an improved AMC head)
last night my Alternator failed. I was fuming, but then I thought to myself this is the original Denso 120 alternator its nearly 20 years old and its done 344,000 miles before dying. I think that is something to be pleased about as I dont know any vehicle that has done that many miles still having original parts like the alternator unless any of you know different?
given the price of a new OEM TD5 alternator is it worthwhile reconditioning the one I have taken out as it is probably only bushes or controller. If so does anyone know where you can get a kit?
